For a while, I always used spending time with my friends as an excuse to eat really delicious, but oh so unhealthy food, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. If you’re a girl with a prominent sweet tooth, you’re probably hoping this post will have some fatty, sugary, high-in-calorie recipes like triple fudge brownies or sundaes with more toppings than can be named. Well, sorry, none of that here, but believe me, I’m disappointed along with you. On the other hand, it is still possible to eat really delicious food while still staying relatively healthy. Here are some simple ideas that will leave you satisfied, without waking up with regretful thoughts in the morning like “Did I really eat that?”

Dinner:

Stop! Don’t pick up that phone, and definitely don’t call Dominos delivery! Instead of ordering pizzas, burgers, and wings, get cookin’- Mexican style! Everyone loves a good taco… or 4, so make a hearty, “healthy” taco bar. Pick up some butter lettuce and use that as the “wrap” for all of your ingredients! You can use beef or grilled chicken, depending if you’re going for a taco or fajita vibe. Next layer on the toppings- grilled vegetables, low fat cheese, low fat sour cream, tomatoes, and hot sauce are among a few! Not only is this recipe super easy with very little prep time, but it’s fun to have your friends create their own meals, and you can also be sure their taste buds are pleased!

Snacks:

Skip the Cheetos, Doritos, and Fritos. Let’s put an end to this literary madness. If you’re craving something salty, opt for a “healthier chip” such as natural blue corn chips. These are great when served with guacamole and salsa. (Perfect for your Mexican themed meal!) If you’re looking to indulge in some popcorn during your movie marathon, go for the already popped “Boom Chick-a Pop” popcorn. It’s a natural, low in calorie popcorn with only 4 ingredients, but it will still relieve all of your salty desires!

A Light Desert:

OK, so it’s definitely not kale or spinach, but chocolate can be “healthy” too (sometimes). No, this is not an excuse for you to run to your local grocery store and grab every bag of Halloween candy you can find. Instead, pick up some bananas, all natural peanut butter, and dark chocolate so you can incorporate fruits, protein, and a little bit of sweetness into your “girls’ night.” First, chop your bananas into small slices. Next, take a clean knife and spread peanut butter on to every other slice. Place the remaining slices on to the ones with peanut butter. After you have created your banana & pb “sandwiches,” place them in the freezer for about an hour. As for the chocolate, melt your dark chocolate in the microwave for about 40 seconds and dip your “sandwiches” into the sweet and savory goodness! After letting it freeze for a couple of hours, indulge ‘till your heart’s content!
