While going out is always fun and adventurous, a night in with the girls every once and while can be good for the soul… and wallet. But sometimes doing the same things, eating the same foods, and watching the same movies can get a little old. In order to save you from all the “What do you want to dos?” and “I don’t cares” the night may have to offer, here are some fresh, fun ideas that will have you and your girls ready to make “night ins” a regular “to do.”
What’s a girls’ night in without a movie marathon? Nonexistent. While everyone has different tastes in movies, I have come to find that it’s almost a “universal” understanding that on a girls’ night, chick-flicks are a must. So put away the action movies and thrillers for tonight, here are some classic chick-flick movies that you just can’t go wrong with.
1. “He’s Just Not That into You”- At some point or another, we’ve all fallen into a period of heartbreak. Whether the circumstances were devastating or somewhat nonchalant, it never feels good to be told that you are no longer the target of interest… or maybe that you never were at all. Either way, watching this movie will make you laugh, sympathize , and become oh so grateful that you are no longer the one “so-and-so” is telling he’s “just not that into.”
2. “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”- If you’re looking for a romantic comedy that will provoke more laughter than sympathy, this movie will do the trick! First of all, Matthew McConaughey plays the leading male role, so that should be enough of a reason to watch it already. But if you’re still not convinced, the movie’s focus is set on the beautiful and hilarious character Andie (Kate Hudson) who tackles the project of losing a guy in 10 days by using all the desperate and clingy tactics most women use unintentionally. While Andie is acting borderline psychotic, Ben has also taken on the task of trying to make Andy fall in love with him. This movie will have you and your girls laughing so hard, you’ll be convinced your six pack will be showing through by morning.
“Spoons”- If you’ve ever gotten caught up in a game of “spoons,” you know just how intense it can be. Passing cards around the table, searching for matches, and keeping your eye on the prize (spoons) can be quite the mission… even for us multi-taskers. And when you pick up your head after falling out of your dazed concentration only to notice that there is one spoon left, you’re ready to fight to the death in order to gain that magical possession. OK, that was a little dramatic. It’s really just a spoon that will give you minimal benefits (other than eating yogurt or cereal) and a good ole card game, but boy oh boy is it a crowd pleaser!
“Cranium”- Everyone loves a good board game, and this one happens to be the best of the best. After you and your friends have broken up into teams, you will proceed to take on the challenge of what ever the category card asks of you- charades, blind drawings, and backwards spelling contests are a few of the tasks that will be sure to leave you with many embarrassing stories to tell for years to come. Tal & I have surely formed a few, to say the least.
